Cryopreserved Hepatocytes

Cryopreserved
hepatocytes can be used to perform experiments where an intact cellular system is required. Intact, viable hepatocytes contain the major hepatic drug-metabolizing enzymes as well as the co-factors required to study the four categories of biotransformation: hydrolysis, reduction, oxidation and conjugation. If cryopreserved hepatocytes attach to culture dishes, they respond to prototypical enzyme
inducers in a predictable manner and are useful for evaluating the enzyme-inducing potential of drug candidates.
We offer a large variety of toxicologically relevant species including:
Each product is accompanied by a datasheet containing donor information, post-thaw yield and viability and clinically relevant enzymatic data.
Included with each order of cryopreserved hepatocytes Our recommended thawing protocol (PDF) Instructional CD-ROM Sample preparation worksheet Recommended experimental conditions for cryopreserved hepatocytes
Cryopreserved hepatocytes should be stored in liquid nitrogen vapor (-160°C or colder). They should be thawed in accordance with our thawing protocol (PDF), which is shipped with your hepatocytes.
Hepatocyte isolation kits are also available to provide a convenient means of following our recommended procedures to optimize the hepatocytes before use.
All of our cryopreserved hepatocytes are packaged to produce an Assured Minimum Yield (AMY), the minimum number of viable cells that you can expect from each vial. The AMY allows for advanced planning and budgeting for your research projects by ensuring that you get the quantity of cells needed for your specific experiment.
