Hepatocytes

 

Hepatocytes can be used to perform experiments where an intact cellular system is required. Intact, viable hepatocytes contain the major hepatic drug-metabolizing enzymes as well as the co-factors required to study the four categories of xenobiotic biotransformation: hydrolysis, reduction, oxidation and conjugation.
