Human UDP-Glucuronosyltransferase (UGT) bDNA Probe

The performance of the bDNA probe sets was verified in cultured human hepatocytes. For example, hepatocytes from human livers HL178 and HL201 were treated for three days with 10 µM rifampin or vehicle (0.1% DMSO). The level of CYP mRNA was measured and normalized to that of glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase (GAPDH) mRNA. The induction of UGT1A1 mRNA by rifampin ranged from 1.6- to 2.8-fold, whereas UGT2B4 mRNA induction ranged from 2.2- to 4.9 fold (see figure).
